information or to be a competitor
At 9am we will start off with competitor
introductions, colt selection, and the drawing for competition order.
There will be 3 rounds in the morning lasting an hour each with two
competitors going each round. The competitors will be working in round
pens, side by side, using their own style of training to soften, educate,
saddle and possibly ride the young horse for the first time.
The top two competitors will be selected as finalist and advance to
the afternoon session. There will be an hour break for lunch with the
finals starting at 1:30. In the finals each competitor will have an
hour and a half, solo, to continue their young horse's education process.
If the finalist chooses they make take their colt out of the round pen
and navigate an obstacle course that will consist of commonly seen trail
items such as logs, water/tarp crossing, gates, etc.
Winner will be chosen by a point system, receiving a belt buckle and
a cash award for being the first winner of the Horseman's Challenge!
The runner-up will also receive a nice buckle for a job will done.
